My Predictions for 2011

  • The Australian government (and the world in general) will continue to do nothing about climate change.
  • Facebook replacement Diaspora will move to open beta. It will suffer the same fate as Identica; only nerds will use it.
  • I will be able to play the swan without sounding completely horrible.
  • P vs NP will still be unknown
  • We still won’t have confirmation on the existence / non-existence of the Higgs-Boson.
  • Fundies will still be waiting for the rapture
  • Nerds will still be waiting for the singularity
  • SETI won’t have succeeded yet
  • The Xbox 720 and Playstation 4 will be announced. Nintendo will lag behind.
  • A conservative politician in Australia will be outed as being Gay in a public scandal.
  • Someone’s hard drive will die, without any backups, and I’ll have to be the one to tell them they’re screwed.

  1. Ha. I thought you were talking about underwear for a second there…
I dunno, I think there’s a growing population pissed off at/bored with Facebook, but, who like me see no current viable alternative. So just maybe… if it’s designed and implemented well, with an ‘import from Facebook’ button for lazy people.

  2. The mystery of JFK’s assassin will go on UNSOLVED.

Pencil use will continue to DECLINE.

News media will rely almost entirely on last month’s Youtube hit parade, last year’s Wikileaks and last century’s content delivery systems.

  3. Like the comment on the fundies waiting for the rapture!

Also, those who follow the Mayan calendar will be sorely disappointed.

My prediction is that the world’s computers will crash and be reset to zero. The whole world will stop working…hang on, that was the year 2000. NOTHING HAPPENED.
