Name’s Daniel Kinsman.
Here is a stock question everyone usually asks when meeting a new person.
What do you do?
Like Daria, my greatest failing is “an inability to answer stock questions with stock answers”. So what do I do? I do many things. For instance I like to close my eyes and stick my fingers in my ears when I’m in the shower. If you move your head in and out from under the water, it sounds like waves breaking on the ocean. It’s really quite hypnotic and relaxing, you should try it some time.
The idea that people are defined by their occupations is frightening. I love my job, but it is only one aspect of the well rounded, multifaceted, geometrically impossible individual that is me.
Perhaps you would you like to rephrase the original question?
What do you do for a crust?
That’s better. I work as a computer programmer, on all kinds of interesting stuff.
I am a devout atheist, a tree hugging environmentalist, a self-confessed trekkie, and an awful cellist. I am a politically active, socially responsible salsa dancing extravaganza.
